HI Everyone, This forum is of great help and i really appreciate for all the replies i received for all other questions i had. So my family is planning to get a short sale home and we know it needs some time to get things done but we are positive about this house and going forward with it. The question comes to which banks are good for home loans. I met couple of people, some they say big banks delay the process, and then they take too much time to approve etc... So far have gathered some information from these companies: 1) Weichart financial 2) FirstHallmark 3) Prospect Mortgage I am not sure if this is the right direction or i should try bigger banks e.g. BoA, WF etc.. Pls suggest? All i need is a great interest rate with a hassle free bank from the approval perspective...sounds too much i guess...lol

Thanks

Try Valley National Bank. I used them recently for a refi and was very happy with them.

i happen to be closing on a refi tonight. 30 yr fixed, zero fee (literally, not paying one penny), under 4%. i probably can give you the name through pm if interested. however in the past i've used american federal mortgage in flanders and they were good and competitive.

Tahiti, how did the closing go on your refi? Just wondering about American Federal Mortgage. Thanks. Reply With Quote Quick reply to this message 05-16-2012, 06:17 AM

no problems at all. guy showed up at my house at 6pm, was out of here by 6:30pm. My mortgage is now $450 less per month.

I used AMF in the past and had a good experience with them too. I worked with a guy named Mike Russo (I think that was his name).

We are in the process of refin both primary residence and investment to both 15 year fixed. We got no cost refin for primary residence at 3% and 3.375% with cost for investment property. The investment property refin we are going through AFM as well. They actually offerred 2.875% for our primary residence with closing cost. However, I do not want to pay closing cost for our primary residence refin so that I go with the other broker.

Anyone has experience with RomAsia Bank for mortgage loan? They are a small community bank based in Edison.

Valley National Bank has the best fees and good rates as well. If you go on their website, you will see that they have a promotion where they charge a total of $1899.00 for closing cost. The only catch is you need to put down 25%.

I recommend two options: American Federal Mortgage in Flanders, NJ. Contact name was Rich Ramaci. He is fast with communication and very clear about everything. No surprises at closing (used them for purchase and refis over the last few years). LOTS of documentation required but that is standard post-2008.

Atlantic Stewardship Bank. Used them for ZERO COST refi last year. Very smooth process as well. You DO have to keep on top of them though with phone calls. LOTS of documentation (two years of financial history, passports, great credit, etc). COST us absolutely nothing. Low rate. Start to finish 6 weeks for refi.

Working with Carl Casperson from American Federal Mortgage now on a home purchase. Haven't closed yet, but so far, really pleasant working with him. He's very responsive (even called me at 9pm on a Friday night because I was confused at the things included on my GFE). Warning, there's a LOT of paperwork and since you don't have the option of a local branch, you'll need a good scanner to be efficient.
